New Homes

Bought a New Home?

Grab your plans and come down to our showroom!

Truth be told, we’d love to talk to you before your house plans are even finalised as we have seen every mistake in the book made and can help you avoid them.

How light works in a room is extremely important to how a room is used, and the wrong sized windows, or windows put in the wrong place, can have a significant impact. In summer, the wrong type of window in the wrong place can render a room unusable without air conditioning.

Some materials have load limits which limits their width and therefore the width of the windows they can be used for, meaning two windows may be needed where one large window was originally planned.

Treatment fittings may have design limitations restricting their use in tricky places such as corner windows. The type of room also matters, as furniture sitting alongside windows will affect what you can choose, while certain materials can’t be used in wet areas, and children’s rooms should use window treatments without dangerous long cords.

Do you have a dog or cat? These matter too. Cats love curtains and dogs can quickly damage vertical blinds.

Want to tech up and use the latest automation? This also impacts your choices and planning these additions before painting and other improvements are done can avoid a lot of extra work down the track.

The sooner we can sit down with you and your home plans, the better. This way, we can work together to give your new home the look and feel you want without unexpected surprises.

Interior Tip #2
Consider what furniture you will have in a room and where they will be as this can affect what kind of window treatments you can use. Shutters, for example, may not be able to open if placed too close.

Frequently Asked
questions:
Can you block out all light and noise?
Our curtain, blind & shutter ranges can offer room darkening and block out options. Light like water will find a way if there are gaps. These of course can be minimised as best possible with certain products. Unlike other window treatment companies, we do not claim to provide a 100% block out as this would be misleading.
Can the window treatments be automated?
We have a whole range of blinds, curtains and shutters that can be automated and controlled through a controller or mobile app, or even set to change at certain times of day or depending on light levels.
What is the best type of window treatment?
Because of the differences in light, space and use of the rooms of your home, plus additional factors like budget, there is no one solutions that fits all. Having access to a range of curtains, blinds and shutters gives you a range to choose from.
How much cleaning do window treatments require?
Each style of window treatment will have its own cleaning requirements, some more frequent or labour intensive than others.
What should I consider when thinking about window treatments?
The main things are use and look. How much light or noise needs to be blocked out? How big are the windows? Will the treatment be a design feature? Are there children or pets? The best idea is to speak to one of our experienced consultants who can make sure you don't miss anything.
